The Agency for the Management and Recovery of Seized and Forfeited Assets (Agrasc) seized 771 million euros in assets in 2022.

Villas, luxury cars, lots of cash and crypto assets: since the creation in 2011 of the Agency for the Management and Recovery of Seized and Forfeited Assets (Agrasc), the number of seizures of assets from crime breaks records every year . It amounted to €725 million seized in 2021 and €592 million in 2020. That’s a 30% increase between 2020 and 2022.

These “unprecedented” results can be attributed in particular to the creation since 2021 of four Agrasc regional branches, in Marseille, Lyon, Rennes and Lille, and to the almost doubling of the Agency’s staff, from 45 in 2020 to 83 in 2022. underlines the Foreign Ministry. Three new antennas should open spring 2023 in Bordeaux, Nancy and Fort-de-France, confirmed on Monday the Keeper of the Stamps Eric Dupond-Moretti in Coudekerque-Branche (North), where he handed over the keys to the “first building” seized by justice from an association.

Agrasc, which administratively manages reluctantly seized assets, such as goodwill, luxury vehicles or yachts, can also since April 2021, approved by the Ministry of Justice, make available some of the seized real estate for the benefit of associations. In 2022, the Agency sold a total of 168 properties for an amount of 35.2 million euros, 31.3% more than the previous year, but also 4,221 movable assets, compared to 2,453 in 2021.

Agrasc is the armed wing of the state to seek redress for criminals by hitting them in the wallet. Its effectiveness is no longer to be proven. “, rejoices Eric Dupond-Moretti, quoted in a press release from the Foreign Ministry.
